America Outraged About Our Santa Claus Blog?

Dec 15, 2011 | Humor

Our recent post about Santa Claus getting in trouble with the FDA definitely hit a nerve with skeptics, the FDA and Santa fanatics across the globe.  Many in the food safety industry agreed with our assessment and echoed our warnings to Santa, especially about the impending crackdown that we all fear is coming.  Others, however, did not share in our somber warnings and instead allowed sentiment and eggnog to blindly inform their views on Santa’s regulatory compliance behaviors. Most in our industry did understand the gravity of the situation however and wrote us with their support and feedback.  Below we provide you with some of the best coverage and comments about our blog, “Santa Claus is the FDA’s Public Enemy #1.”

 Analysis:

“Despite creating the world’s most remarkable just-in-time (JIT) supply chain, it seems Mr. Claus has cut some corners in the compliance department.  We aren’t just pointing fingers; we’ve tried contacting the North Pole on multiple occasions to offer our assistance.  We could register them as a Known Shipper with the TSA and talk to Saint Nick about joining Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT).  Frankly, that would go a long way to making chimney access the worst of his logistical bottlenecks.”

Eric Jochim, Dedola Global Logistics

“All of the focus has been on the safety of food coming from China in recent times, but it seems that the FDA and USDA have, for years, overlooked an export point of origin that really deserves more scrutiny: the Arctic Circle and, in particular, the North Pole. By the way, is that Russia, Greenland, what? He’s definitely not complying with country of origin labeling.  As a child we were told that the little red light in the night sky was Rudolf’s red nose and, behind it, was Santa and his big bag of toys. That was a happy thought.  Now there are red lights that follow Santa’s sleigh, too. They belong to police cars.”
