Benjamin England, Founder and CEO of FDAImports.com recently presented at the 2012 Journal of Commerce Cool Cargoes Event entitled “Planning an FDA-Proof International Container Cold Chain.” The Cool Cargoes track is part of the JOC’s annual TPM conference (Trans-Pacific Maritime). Mr. England’s presentation answered the following core questions:
• How will FSMA impact cold chains?
• What is the legal impact of FSMA?
• What new fees should I be concerned about under FSMA?
• What is VQIP and FSVP and how will they affect Cold Chain Distribution?
• What changes in HARPC do I need to be concerned about?
“Everyone has just as many questions about FSMA as when it became law a year ago,” said Mr. England. “It was clear from the questions and conversations after the presentation that the transportation industry is still worried about how FSMA is going to impact them and their operations and so far FDA has little to say. That’s why we are here.” Mr. England and his team have presented on topics related to FSMA for over a year, reaching thousands internationally through presentations, conferences and webinars. Mr. England observed, “Although many food companies by now know something about FSMA, the companies that move fresh and frozen food are going to be impacted and there seems to be little effort in educating these transporters. Thankfully JOC’s Cool Cargoes has stepped into this gap.”
