Customs Sets Effective Date of ACE for Various Remaining Transactions

Jun 13, 2017 | Customs and Trade

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced and set July 8, 2017 as the effective date for reconciliation, duty deferral, drawback, collections and statement capabilities in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).  Please be advised that the previously used Automated Commercial System (ACS) will no longer be a CBP authorized Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system for processing the referenced transactions.

CBP has also announced and set July 8, 2017 as the effective date for the modifications to the National Customs Automation Program (NCAP) tests for reconciliation, post-summary corrections and periodic monthly statements.

CBP has not announced and/or set the date of deployment for liquidation capabilities in ACE, at which time liquidations will no longer be processed in ACS and must be done via ACE.

It is vital for everyone to stay up to date on Customs’ communications regarding ACE – especially in ensuring that their customs brokers are maintaining safeguards for any possible corrections with any of the ACE transactions and transition dates.
