FDAImports.com recently attended and presented at the 2014 India International Seafood Show in Chennai. Principal Rick Quinn and India Country Director Shanmugam Jayakumar met with processors, exporters, and industry members at the FDAImports.com booth, discussing the U.S. market and the recent changes caused by FSMA and the Foreign Supplier Verification Program. Mr. Quinn’s presentation, entitled “Successfully Importing Seafood into the United States: Understanding Compliance and Contemporary Enforcement Trends,” was well-received. The presentation gave a high-level introduction to FDA and U.S. Customs compliance, as well as providing insight into the HACCP regulations and the implications of FSMA for the seafood industry.
“The Food Safety Modernization Act provides new enforcement authorities for FDA, and FSMA’s Foreign Supplier Verification Program will present particular challenges to non-U.S. exporters. FDAImports.com has been working with importers and exporters for years, expediting shipments and proactively avoiding obstacles to getting products to the U.S. market. We’re excited about the opportunities these new regulations create for importers and exporters to work more closely on ensuring compliance,” said Mr. Quinn.
