For the fourth consecutive year, FDAImports.com has been featured at the China Fisheries and Seafood Expo. This year the show was held November 5 to 7, 2014 in Qingdao, with Benjamin England, Rick Quinn, Shelly Li, and Ge Song in attendance.
“We were very fortunate to see many long-time clients at this year’s show,” noted Mr. Quinn. “This event is a terrific opportunity to talk with seafood suppliers, trade association members, and government officials.”
This year our team found that many companies wanted to talk about our free FDA food facility registration services. Since seafood companies must register with FDA as food facilities, they also must submit a renewal every two years. All renewals are due to FDA by December 31, 2014 and are valid through 2016.
“There was a lot of discussion at the show about recent remarks made by FDA officials concerning Import Alerts for Chinese seafood. In particular, Import Alert 16-131, which requires all imported catfish and other aquaculture products to be tested for animal drug residues before FDA will allow them to be imported unless the Chinese processor is added to a Green List,” Mr. England explained. “As long as this alert remains in place, any manufacturer who wants to avoid private laboratory testing in the U.S. needs to obtain Green Ticket status – a process that often requires an FDA inspection.”
FDAImports.com represents exporters and foreign manufacturers obtain access to the U.S. markets, including obtaining exemptions from Import Alerts. The Chinese branch of the firm is ExporttoUSA.com.cn, located in Qingdao.
