Ben England and Olivia Zuniga of FDAImports.com, an international FDA consulting firm, had a fantastic experience attending and presenting at IFEX Philippines. During the exhibition, Mr. England presented two expert trainings; on the first day, he spoke to industry members concerning the export and regulation of foods/beverages, alternative medicines, dietary supplements, and cosmetics; on the second, Mr. England’s presentation was created for the food, drug, cosmetic, and dietary supplement regulators in the Philippines, and discussed how the U.S. governs and controls these products when imported.
“We were very excited to be able to partner with the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Agriculture to bring training to Philippine exporters of foods, beverages, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and medical products. I was treated to a standing-room-only crowd that had many questions about successfully exporting high-quality products to the United States. Industry representatives were very interested in our free registration services for food companies, and in solving FDA import detentions, refusals, and import alerts,” said Mr. England of the training for industry.
About the training for regulators, Mr. England commented, “As much as I enjoy speaking with business entrepreneurs, having six hours to discuss how the United States regulates imported products with Philippines government regulators was a special treat. I could see that their level of commitment to public health and safety was surpassed only by their integrity and clear commitment to a fair, transparent regulatory process. Industry and regulators have a common goal: to increase trade with the United States in high-quality, safe foods and beverages, drugs, cosmetics, and medical products. I see a bright future.”
